Rollie Pollie Booty Shakers for Part-time Ravers

If you’re like me and you enjoy a nice thick and juicy bassline to propel your heinie on a daily or perhaps bi-weekly basis, then look no further than the following playlist of flavours for your ear. With the summer in full swing, the opportunities to breath some life into these new tracks are abundant. After a busy week in Vancity with the Celebration of Light and plethora of Pride events, the dust has settled for the time being and given us ample time to reflect on some funky new additions to the crate.

Starting things off is a little beauty by Ralvero. The pride of Roosendal adds his spin on one of the new house styles du jour. If you’re a DJ fishing for a good mid-set addition, then this might be a welcome catch. For the causal listener, take a dip in the this lush lake of frequencies and see what the kids are all raving about.

This next bad boy is probably my favorite out of the lot. This is quite the departure from the original and the results are solid. A chef by the name of Malaa chopped these vocals into a tasty musical mirepoix, transforming this reggaeton track into a dancefloor delicacy.

Bola Rebola by Tropkillaz J. Balvin, and Annitta (Malaa Remix)

This last number is a disco-drenched vintage with hints of George Benson and Louie Vega with earthy undertones recalling the summers of ’77 and ’99. The vocal stylings of Andreya Triana accompany a well-arranged production from The Vision. A bit more of an organic feel than the previous selections, this Defected Records release doesn’t overstay it’s welcome, clocking in just under 5 minutes and following a more traditional song structure.

It feels like heaven walking through the door

I’m feeling love like I never felt before

So, gimme the light

Out of the darkness

Keep me coming
